NexTel Rocks - 02 Sep 2003 03:47 GMT
HeHeHe!!! LOL!!!

It may seem funny but when you think about it both companies have a huge
similarity. Verizon offers outstanding cellular service and a not yet
ready for primetime PTT. Nextel offers outstanding PTT service and a not
yet ready for primetime cellular service.
Mitchell Regenbogen - 02 Sep 2003 04:05 GMT
They're not really similar at all.  Nextel's PTT is limited to Nextel's
small digital network, and when you have no coverage you can't communicate
at all.  While Verizon's PTT may not yet, after 2 1/2 weeks, be ready for
prime time, you'll still be able to make a wireless call in more areas
than with any other wireless provider.  Verizon understands that PTT is
merely an enhancement to being able to communicate.  To Nextel PTT is the
only reason for being.

That was my point.

WRONG mitchvealot.. but thanks for your worthless BS opinion of wireless
providers, grow up and open up you may learn something.  But doubt it
cuz vealots never do.  Why are you so nervous about Nextel? Is it true
they are kicking vzn's butt? soon will?  can other providers and vzn
co-exist?  Can it be possible other providers are as good as if not
better than vzn?  Seems CS, other awards, and profitability are all
going to another wireless company, not vzn.  Grow up vealot.  The sky is
not vzn, The sky is BLUE!

What I'd like to see is for someone to take a PTT Verizon phone from
Charleston, SC, and drive it around the SOLID PTT coverage area on
their bogus coverage map across southwestern South Carolina, where
they MIGHT have marginal CDMA service on the widely-spaced AMPS
towers, but it would be a MIRACLE if it has 1X service to make PTT
happen.....too funny.

Then, when a TRUE PTT coverage map has been established, sue their
a.ses to force THEM to publish a TRUE PTT coverage map, you know, like
the one Verizon's sales staff is showing, the TRUE coverage map Nextel
produces for the same area.

tech....

Not true, Nextel is a fully functional wireless company which can and
does provide its customers with good if not better service than the
other providers

I do not post here often, but do try to follow along with what
others are posting. Im using a v60p and i have always liked verizon they
just work better in my area then some of the other competition, And yes
there ptt is not so great i keep telling myself that maybe it will
improve it has only been 2 weeks. and some days there is really only a
1-2 sec delay and other days i have a 5-10 sec delay and even no
service!!!
You know what ccc1 im man enough to say hey Nextel has a far superior
ptt service than Vz does and maybe than they ever will... but who
cares?? i noticed in all your posts all you really say is vz sucks
Nextel rocks!!! When ever someone gets there panties in a bunch after
reading one of your posts you acuse them of being afraid of Nextel.. I
think your posts are funny most of the time because like i said i could
really care less who anybody else uses i know what works best for me and
only me...my question is though why are you afraid of VZ???I ask this
because you did not show up in this group and start talkin sh.t  until
right before vz was going to release ptt From that point till
today....just my observation.. so you can call me a vealot and other
names if you want, but i dont worship verizon or anybody else my wife
uses nextel for work ,and i have vz as personl phone..

I should know better than to get inthis discussion, but: Nextel is
available in  the area I work in, but  their coverage doesn't reach
where I live--always though I wanted the PTT thing, and was really
watching for Verizon ( one of my cell phone carriers) to get it--but
after I thought about it, the mobile to mobile deal, and N&W thing works
perfectly and is cheaper, and can't see a big lot of advantage in my
particular situation, but as others have posted, with the current
coverage what good is a nextel phone going to do you when you are away
from a metro area--I have suffered the spider web coverage area in the
early sprint days, but Sprint has improved especially with the new F&C
America--Nextel has some big blank spots, you would need an additional
phone with nextel. There is no doubt that for what nextel does, at
present, is the best, but its sort of like solar powered devices, if you
are in the right place its great, but for those of us not in that place,
at present, verizon usually has adequate cell service and at least a
rudimentary PTP system..and has others have noted, including myself, I
have had the (cell one, gte, and now verizon) for years, in my area,
their coverage, their c/s, straight forwardness, and inovative services
(here they were the first with N&W, all state coverage, digital, and
others) were usually, ahead of their competition.  They didn't get as
big as they are by being worse--but I admit they are not perfect, and
the PTT is the Best current example..but hasn't  most every aspect of
cell service (s) by all carriers improved dramatically over just the
last few years--I frankly hope that both verzon and nextel and whoever
else gets so much better that I can't tell who the best is--and I'll bet
it will.

Life & cell phones require some compromise

You might be laughing right now at the problems that Verizon is having,
getting their direct mode (or PTT) off the ground. But you must remember,
"NEXTEL" is NOT and never was intended to be a "Cellular" phone. NEXTEL is a
"SMR" or Specialized Mobile Radio (see Trunking radio systems). It was
intended to be for plumbers and such to reach "dispatch" or other units and
that it does well.
However....with that thought in mind, when Verizon and other carriers DO get
their PTT service overlayed onto their cellular system, offer better RF
coverage service than Nextel AND at a much cheaper rate, NEXTEL had better
get ready to do something stellar....like cut their rates in half, build out
to more places..or lose their customer base like rats off a sinking
freight-liner.
ANY and I mean ANY communications device thats not reliable or causes it's
subscriber grief is not worth a plug nickle. Many of the NEXTEL users hold
on due to the PTT feature and not wanting to lose their number they have
published for their biz reasons. You ARE going to see a fair amount of
"Churn" from NEXTEL in the following months, wait till PTT is available
elsewhere....Eddie

CCCC1 1CCCC - 02 Sep 2003 04:55 GMT
Eddie.... you might just see churn TO Nextel....  Come on another
vealot... "Nextel is for plumbers" Have you hit your head?  Nextel IS a
A-list wireless provider PTT or NO PTT, Provider the same if not better
service than the others.  Unbelieveable BS.... yet so typical for
vealots
