Why do you want to void your warranty on a new phone?

You may not but when the dead unit is sent to Motorola, they won't credit
the SC.  I had an issue with that when I ran a local Nextel warehouse and
sent warranty units back...  We made the SC eat the cost.

Also, don't you find it irresponsible to encourage to violate the warranty
offered by the company you work for?

You must have made them eat it for other reasons (like h20 or crush).
How would you logistically flag customers for non-nextel ringtones
wallpapers, and games?  What happens if the phone doesn't power up?
How would someone know if it had ringtones that voided the warranty i
it?  Nextel's stance has always been "bounce at your discretion".  M
local SAR said "I will stand behind you what ever you do".  Nextel doe
not have a utility in place for a service center to see all th
ringtones that were purchased on that imei.  It would not be on an
account because it goes to the phone and not the sim.  So Nextel woul
have to fix all the imei mismatches before it could even try to tackl
this issue.

Now I know that Nextel employs people in their service Depot in Gran
Prairie TX (Handles the Nation's direct stores repairs) to manuall
delete the custom ringtones and wallpapers out of the phones.  That i
their job. During our quarterly phone meetings at least 1 person bring
up how nice it would be to have a utility to clean out the phones an
restore all factory pictures and ringtones.  Nextel doesn't say tha
voids the warranty they instead say it would be nice we have bee
working on this with Motorola because we waist a lot of man power doin
just that.

I have even sent back unlocked Boost phones to Motorola for repair an
they fixed the phone and of course locked the phone again but, we hav
never been charged back or eaten any phones that had custom ringtone
or wallpapers in them.

The other warranty voided thing that goes not enforced by Nextel is th
Motorola only approved accessories.  Nextel directly sells non approve
accessories.  Their Nextel branded car chargers are crap. I am sure i
you remember back at your center you sold non-Motorola accessories.
This would be another almost impossible thing to prove.  You may used
non-Motorola charger at home!!! Warranty voided!

Now the after market housing changes does void the warranty and bot
Motorola and nextel have policies in writing saying that it voids th
warranty and pricing on making repairs to phones with after marke
housings. I strongly stand behind this one because the aftermarke
housings to cause a lot of headaches and problems.  This is concrete
can see it has been modified I know it has been modified.  With th
exception of the blue i95, which took a lot of research to tell it wa
oem and not one of those crap cases
