A local guy is telling alot of the kids aroundmy area that if you  # *
(menu) > (trace mode) go too err/Channel Code and turn this on you get
better reception because you are using satellites and not the towers ..... I
do not think this is true, I think it actually is used by Nextel to track
problem areas?

Anyone have information on this?

Thanks
Steve

No this does nothing for reception. This is on many Iden sites claming
the same thing. But all come to the same conclusion No better

You are right, the techs use that info to determine if there is a problem
with a site or if the phone is not receiving a signal.  Nextel does not
offer satellite service.  It also will not enable you to use Sprint CDMA
towers, but it will help make your whites brighter!

When a phone is put into trace mode it tells us3 things that is need to find
problems........1. the RSSI, SQE and the hex codes. Better
reception........not.
