I have 5 phones on my fleet and, well, they are old and broken....need to
get new phones. However, Nextel tells me that I have to pay full price for
any phones unless I plan on new activation. Is there anywhere online that a
current customer can purchase new phones without paying $300+ for each phone
and being required to purchase rate plan?

I maybe able to help you. Email me at southwestcomm@yahoo.com. I am a
Nextel dealer and can get you new activation prices on phones as long as
you are willing to extend your contract.

With prices and service by competitors getting better than Nextel, extending
ones contract doesn't make sense for the customer. How does one just
replace a telephone? Spent an hour on the telephone with Nextel yesterday
trying to replace a phone I broke, they want me to extend my contract, I
said "fine, give me more minutes for the same price and I will," they
wouldn't.

Which is the same as what you can do via Nextel Direct. Tell Nextel
you're willing to take your business elsewhere once WNP is released.
See how quick Nextel changes their mind.

Not true. Existing Nextel customers can get the same promotional new phone
prices as new customers. You will have to sign a new contract just as a new
customer would.

I sent this to Nextel tonight. Will wait to see what they do about it. Isn't our fault. Never felt so TRAPPED. We wish we never ordered you phones. When we originally set up this plan it was suppose to be for unlimited walkie talkie usage. That is what your salesman lead me to believe. How could we be so stupid. The first bill we got and received was Jan. 1,2005. I called then after seeing the charges. The plan they had us under was all wrong from my order. So I pay the $297.78.After I found out we had just paid $271.53 just to get these phones. So far that is $569.31. I still have gotten no where as unaware this must be the trick plan from hell. Then 2 days ago I get another bill of $477.00 approx. That is ALMOST $1000.00. That is a mortgage payment for us. We live pay check to pay check. I have a diease that does not allow me to work so Ed works 14 hour days and right now is into 5 weeks at that straight. When i showed him this bill, well can you imagine a man literally crying. I am a paralegal that cannot leave my house. I want some help here. I want out of this whole package. I feel that we were lead to believe one thing and roped into another. Oh then when your sneaky sales man said our monthly fee would be $49.00 a month per phone. Well, something is wrong and I want a phone call from a sincere person who can help us before I obtain legal help. Oh and the phone I did get will not even hold a charge for more than a day. Piece of junk. I really feel we were put over a barrel here. Told one thing and charged another. And even after phone call after phone call I have gotten no where. My god we just went through 3 hurricaqnes barely have a house left and can no way afford this game you are all playing with us. I felt you were a good company after my family of 7 in Minnesota have been with you all for years and were never charged such outragious rates before. Nextel is gone nuts as far as I am concerned.
