Using an i860 - A, Motorola phone with Nextel.
The firmware version is R1C0101. I have downloaded the Firmware
Upgrade Utility version R1C0201 ( 40 MB ).
I have and have been using the USB data cable for Media
Downloading. I have the $15.00 Standard Data Plan with Web and
Bookmarks etc.
Considering the size of the download it could take a long time to
install. Can I connect the charger to the phone to insure the
battery does not quit during the install?
Anyone know if the Upgrade is worthwhile and that I won't lose any
features I have. Or will it install some restrictions.
Software Upgrades are listed here for IDEN Software Upgrades.

Would appreciate any information.

Your data is not being used if you download it to your PC first and
then transfer to your i860 with the data cable.

That's the way it's done. I've downloaded it to my PC and the next
step is installing it to the i860 via the data cable. I'm holding
off on that until I get more information.

In case anyone is interested in this:
Motorola assured me I would not lose anything so I installed the
Firmware Upgrade.
Things went smoothly until the end where it re-installs the default
apps like the Calculator and some demos. The message said it could
not communicate with the phone. Tried the suggestions to no avail.
So I removed the cable and powered the phone off and on and
rebooted the PC and ran the install again. This time it went thru
to the end with no problem.
BE SURE to read the Readme.txt file,
When I tried the Calculator, it immediately installed it and it
works. Same with a Demo.
In general everything seems a little faster including the Web.
