I purchased (and took it back for refund) a Plantronic 310 Bluetooth ear
piece.
Charged it up, got my i870 to find and recognized it, turned the
function on, and then started to make calls and have friends call me.
Everyone I called or call me (phone or PTP) complained about the
static!  I also heard a little static.

The sales rep who took the return, informed me that this is normal for
the i870, and that Motorola had messed up the Bluetooth code/drive for
several models.  Even the Motorola ear pieces can cause static.  Why
they did not tell me that before I bought the ear piece is beyond me.
And when I asked if it was possible that it was the 310 and not the i870
they said no that the 310 works on other  Bluetooth phones.

Question(s), Is this true for others people with i870's?

Is this normal for the i870?

If you have a i870 and Bluetooth ear piece, which model do you have that
works without static?

Does Motorola know about this problem?

TIA.

After reading your post I when out an bought a Motorola HS850 ($79) at
Best Buys, they only had one of the H500's and the plastic case was
damaged.  And while the HS850's incoming audio was really clear, the out
going signal sounded like I was in a whole/well an still had a small
amount of static at the receiving end.  I thought this was much better,
then on saturday and sunday, the unit started acting up.  It started
losing the connection with the i870 and have to be re-found(by folding
the boom to the off then on position).  Then it started dropping calls,
and I'd go thought the same routine.
Maybe it was just that unit.  But I took it back.  And I'm going to give
my ear a rest.
I try again later.

Well it you wanna go back and try the H500 I got mine for $39.99 from
Ecost.com.  I dunno if your headsets are the problem or something with
the phone.  You should call Nextel and see if you can get a
replacement i870 phone.
