Thanks. I just found out from Nextel that it will cost me either $35 or $55
(I can't remember) to have the phone fixed or replaced, even though it is
still under warranty.

Thats odd, how long is the warranty on the phone? I would think that
you would not have to pay anything.(little do I know!). I have always
carried both the "Direct Protect Ins"4.95 and the "Nextel Service
Plan"2.95. I can not remember anytime that I've been charged extra to
get service.

I called an authorized repair center, and the person stated that they won't
know if I will be charged until they open the phone up.
He also went on to say that the shop or Nextel (I'm not sure which) has been
having lots of problems with my model phone.
I 'll post the repair shops findings tomorrow.

FYI. All the guy did was clean the sim card w/ a pencil eraser and bend the
door that the sim card slides into. I'm hoping that fixes it because my
phone warranty expires on 9/1.
Thanks for the help!

Based on my experiences, when a Nextel phone is shutting itself off
randomly, it's usually that the SIM isn't fully seated. A lot of the
phones seem to come from the manufacturer like this. Sometimes it's not
bad enough to cause trouble at first, but as dust and dirt makes its
way into the phone over time, I guess it gets between the SIM and the
contacts on the back of the phone and exacerbates the situation.
