How do i transfer wav files from my PC to my i730?  I have some wav's that I
want to use as my ringtones.  Nextel's idenupdate has wav files but they all
are juvenile.

search yahoo for SoundForge and download the demo version.

Convert your MP3's to WAVs using SoundForge...  WAVs that you want to use as
ringers have to be PCM, 8000hz, 8 bit, mono (so convert all you want
accordingly, then upload the end results to your phone.

Can someone elaborate on how to update ringtones to the i730?  What is
needed software, cable, etc.  And is the process pretty straight
forward?

You can go to www.idenupdate.com and pay for them.  You'll either
need a data cable or web access on your phone.

Or you can buy a data cable and follow the instructions at

To upload "free" wav files.

If you upload your own they need to be; 8 KHz, 8 bits per sample,
and mono.

Once you get your computer setup to communicate with your phone its
easy to upload  files.

I use myJAL to upload applications, games, and ring tones.
You must connect to the phone before you can choose from wav files.

This is what I had to do to get everything to work.

The first thing that is needed to be done is install the latest
service packs for your operating system. Without this service pack
installed the phone will not communicate with your computer. This pack
is a must for XP users.
http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/winxpsp1download.html

After the service pack is installed open the USBInstallation.exe that
is included in the zip file that is attached to this reply and follow
the onscreen instructions.

After installing the drivers the driver fix must be installed. Open
usb_fix.reg this is included in the zip file.

When this is completed install myJAL..
http://members.cox.net/myteam/myjal.html
myJAL is the program used to upload files to the phone. After myJal
has been installed open up the program and click the unlock button
icon. After unlocking the program click on settings, click on connect
with USB if using a usb cable. Then click on connect to phone. If you
get a window that pops up saying something about needing a usb driver
for p2kpatriot that file can be located in this usbdrivers directory
that is included in this zip file. When the window for installing new
devices opensjust tell it to search this directory for the device
driver.

After that the computer is setup to upload files to the Phone

Connect the phone to you computer, I use a USB cable.
Windows will try to install a driver
