Nextel used to have a plan that was DC only, but no more.  Can they still
allow me to disable all cell calls on one of my phones so the PTT feature is
all that works ?

OR, can this be done at the phone level?

The "National Shared Minute UDC Plan" is Unlimited Direct Connect, with
NO cellular minutes included, however cell calls can be sent or recieved
at a cost of $0.40US per minute.

On any plan you have the option of restricting outgoing calls for $2.50
a month, or restricting incoming calls for $2.50 a month, or restricting
both for $5.00 a month. This allows Direct Connect to function as
normal.

only through willpower...

Of course, I'm a newb here, and I could be completely wrong.

Yes, it can be restricted at the phone level.  Though it requires that you
put all the DC #'s in the phone book and/or all cell #'s in the phone book
that you want to be able to call.  If it's not in the phonebook the phone
won't call it.  Once you have them in the phonebook, you can take the phone
to an ASC and ask them to disable the phones keypad using RSS.  They'll know
what you're talking about and they will be able to do it.

Of course, you could do it that way, or you could call customer care and ask
them to add the OSC CODE of "NOIO" to your account, NOIO=NO Incoming
Outgoing

Let us know what you end up doing.

why disable the keypad? In RSS you can simply disable the phone functions
and let it work normal for DC including entering new DC numbers?

If you have the RSS program and a data cable, you can change a simply option
in the phones software to disable cell calls.

I don't know who told you they don't offer the plan. I have my wife on the
National Shared UDC (Unlimited DC). It doesn't come with with any minutes,
and has unlimited DC. Its designed to be a shared plan, but when I
recently switched my phone to the Free Incoming 400, they specifically
said I don't need to take her phone off the National UDC plan. While it
doesn't come with any minutes, it does carry 100 bonus minutes, and she
rarely uses more than 15 minutes a month (no joke).
