Thanks, but I already about Sothern LINC. Unfortunately, I'm in Michigan so
that does me no good.
Actually what I had meant by my original post was to question if there were
any companies actually reselling Nextel's own service under a different
name. This is how my Verizon Wireless America's Choice plan works, which is
actually through Cellular 4 Less Inc. Saving $13 a month and not having to a
sign a contract made it well worth it for me.
Really all I want is a PDA with a real web browser and wireless internet
access on it. I could care less if it is iDen, CDMA, mobitex, wi-fi, or two
cans and a cordless string. I live in the thumb area of Michigan though, so
there isn't much available (not even the cordless tin-cans). As far as I can
tell, Thumb Cellular and Dobson Cellular One do not offer any sort of data
access beyond plain basic text messaging. Nextel has it's Packetstream Gold
service which would work for my purposes, but I've dealt with them before
and they were a total pain to deal with. Then Cingular has for some reason a
"mobitex" data coverage out here but not voice cellular coverage, and I've
gone around in circles with them trying to figure out how to order it. (They
say they have the coverage but no service, whatever that means.)

I don't think Nextel ever wants to deal with resellers at all--that's how
Nextel prevents themselves from paying loyalties to other people of having
to have resellers. Nextel does everything on their own, which means that
they only want to be an independent provider and nothing else. They are
trying to improve their customer service, though it has some catching up to
do. I haven't had a problem with Customer Service yet, although I had a
billing dispute with Verizon Wireless one time with a duplicate payment.
