I called Nextel today regarding the i830. We have an enterprise account so
supposedly we get a discount. They advised that the phone would not be
available for purchase till after 6/1/04. For threee phones they quoted me
a price of $199 per phone PLUS $8.50 PER phone for shipping PLUS a $15
service fee PER phone and this is all based on a 2 year agreement!
Considering 2 out of 3 of the phones are out of contract I think that this
is crazy.

What's really sad is when you talk to the human (are they really?!?!?) CSR
robots and you say things like how come I can get a new i830 from Southern
Linc for $140 or maybe I should just switch to another wireless carrier,
they have NO/ZERO comeback or other helpful information.

I understand that Nextel is financially profitable and successful, but at
what cost? Customer "service" in America is a dying art and in all my
experiences (not just over the i830) Nextel is truly one of the worst
customer service providers.

I will hold off till June 1st before making any decisions to see if they
offer any promotions, but, it is getting tougher and tougher to stay on
board with these guys.

Just spoke with nextel, it's $299.99 with a 2 yr. $349.99 with a 1 yr. and
June 1st it will be available.

depending on what type of account you have determins your price on the
phone. Corporate customers get better deals.

199 is a pretty good deal actually....you also need to realize tha
nextel cs is not really nextel. they are outsourced and actually kno
jack-squat about nextel and therefore most feel no need to hook us use
up

It is hard for me to think of $199 per phone as a good deal when they
want a 2 year commitment for it plus they want to charge me $8.50 per
phpne shipping when clearly if they put all 3 phones in one box it does
not cost them $25.50 to ship and the $15 per phone fee is crazy especially
if I move my SIM from one phone to another. No doubt you are right that
they have outsourced their CSR function. I am just getting tired of not
having a local rep/store that I can go talk to in person. That is one of
the things I loved about AT&T and why I may return to them as my old
reliable rep is still there and actually WANTS my business.

Note: This post may contain misspellings, grammatical errors,
disorganized sentence structure, or may entirely lack a coherent
theme. These elements are natural to the process of writing, and will
only add to the overall beauty of the post.

you really don't have a local NRS nearby? where r u located? any plac
that's capable of nextel reception should have a store nearby an
should be able to sell you company phones with no problems...good luc
with that tho...now i have also heard that the phone isn't supposed t
$299 but $199...so you wouldn't be gettting any deal. but like we bot
know the amount of knowledge in any nextel CSR person's head will b
limited. try to find the closest NRS....you should be able to do
lookup on nextel.co
