Is there any way to get the USB connection for an N70 to work in win98? The
nokia software from the box doesn't run on it, I can't find any standard
drivers that'll work it and I can't find any alternatives on google.
A PC suite alternative for 98 would be good, but I could put up with
anything that would just treat the phone as a usb storage device type thing.
Any help would be appreciated, I'd rather not do it by transferring the
memory card back and forth!

Hi Chris

I have the same problem with nokia pc suite running on my symbian phone. At the
moment I'm using my daughters laptop with xp to transfer themes etc.

I fail to understand WTF Nokia didn't make their phones/software W98 compatable.

Some say OXYGENE II works using blue tooth.I read yesterday on here at the
bottom of the page that mobile actions software works on N70.Its supposed to
work on my phone (6670) with a data cable and I might just give it a try myself.

I have also read on some phone sites that there is a work around/patch for
getting them to work  with the Suite on W98 but it looks a bit hit and miss to
me.

Have a look here:
http://www.mobileplace.co.uk/product/Nokia_data_cable_6230i_6670.html

It says:

Specifications

Operating systems support: Microsoft Windows 98/98SE, NT, ME, 2000, XP
Maximum transfer speed: 1.5M bps. Mobile phone connection: 115.2k bps
Regulatory compliance: FCC approval, CE marking, C-Tick.

Hello!

Unfortunately, DKU-2 driver doesn't support special data transfer channel
for this model under MS Windows 98. Furthermore, this phone is supported
only in latest drivers inbuilt in latest Nokia PC Suite, which is available
for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only.

However, you can connect this phone by bluetooth and our software works
under MS Windows 98 SE with bluetooth connection. We can offer Oxygen Phone
Manager II for Symbian OS phones for this model (
http://www.opm-2.com/symbian/ ). Using our program you can manager your
phone's phonebook, calendar, to-do list, messages and your phone's gallery.

You can download the most latest trial version here (
http://oxygensoftware.com/en/download/default.asp?ProductID=59 ).

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us (
http://www.opm-2.com/forum/ ).

MobiMB mentions Win 98 support if you have patched everything, however
if the problem is with the USB drivers or hardware not supporting Win
98 or vice versa, then no software will work. I would try the free
trial version to see if you can gain a connection.

Hello!

Unfortunately, USB connection isn't possible for Nokia N70 under Microsoft
Windows 98 Second Edition, as there is no special data transfer channel for
Symbian phones and Nokia N70 itself isn't supported in Windows 98 SE DKU-2
drivers.

So, with Oxygen Phone Manager II for Symbian OS phones (
http://www.opm-2.com/symbian/ ) and any other thirdparty software you can
use only bluetooth connection under this operating system.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us (
