Infrared modem installation does not seem to work with Windows XP.
If your PC is running Windows XP, you must install the Nokia mobile
phone infrared (IrDA) modem manually.
So, how do I do that then?

Hello Dave
I've got a Nokia pc suite 6.6.16 running under WinXP and I've got no
problem neither on Bluetooth connection nor IR connection
For Bluetooth make sur you have an up to date bluetooth driver for you PC
(In the past on my Toshiba i upgraded the bluetooth driver to enable
bluetooth connection)
About IR i tested it with a noika 7270 with no problem.
You can explore your nokia from WinExplorer
do you use nokia connection manager for configuring your connection ?

Hi again Dave :)
The modem feature is if you want to use your phone as a 56K modem.
You don't need this feature enabled if you don't plan on using it.
If you do, it's separate from PC Suite and available here:

The 6230i modem works at MUCH higher speed that 56K even through IR.
I use it via IR (FIR port on laptop gives 800kpbs or something) to
connect to work, and get speed up to 300 kpbs using EDGE/GPRS.

I didn't even install PC Suite to use the 6230i as a modem with IR :-)
The standard XP driver worked, but you get higher IR speed (if you
have a FIR port that is) ny using the Nokia .inf file for the modem.
