I've just recieved a 6101 as an upgrade, and I believe it should be possible
to use a MP3 file as a ringtone. Does anyone know how to do this? I've
installed PC Suite but suprise, suprise it doesn't recognise the phone, even
though XP does.
I've ordered a USB cable so hopefully I'll be able to use it soon. Is this
the route to take or can I rip a section of a fave track to use as a
ringtone and send it via infrared through XP?
Thanks in advance
Andy

Andy, my friend has a 6101 and has tried 2 USB cables - DKU-2 & DKU-5 - with
the PC Suite, and XP recognises the cable, but not the phone. The suite CD
just stops at the stage where it tells you to connect the cable to the phone
& the PC, and after half an hour of waiting, nothing happens.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a solution, or is this a problem with the
6101?
Thanks,
Toni.

I don't know if you replied to this, but I can't see it, if you did.

Sorry 'bout that, my reply seemed to get wiped! I've sorted my problem by
going into control panel/system/devoce manager/!nfrared eviced /Advanced and
changing the setting to Vishay TFD, and PC Suite now finds the phone and I
have custom ring tones installed. I've already ordered the cable so I will
try it and report back.
I bought the Irda dongle from Maplins for about £10 a couple of years ago.
Regards
Andy

Any issues like those described by Toni?

I use the manage connections manager, chose serial cable rather than USB.
click configure, then look for NOK associated with a port # in the dropdown
list
It should now recognize the phone. Sometimes you have to reconnect the cable
once or twice. I've even had to reboot my PC once to clear the memory so the
program will work. The program is a little buggy but if you baby it it'll
work.
I never could get the transfer music portion to work though. So I used the
file transfer portion.

You can try it with Oxygen Phone Manager II ( http://www.opm-2.com/opm2/ ).
Oxygen Phone Manager II you can upload MP3 tones to your phone's gallery and
then assign them to your profiles and callergroups from Oxygen Phone Manager
II interface. Light version ( http://opm-2.com/OPM2Lite/compare.asp ) as
well, as Oxygen Express ( http://www.oxygen-express.com/ ) are also capable
to upload music to your phone's gallery (but you cannot manage profiles and
caller group parameters with these two programs ).
You can download the latest free trial versions here:
