I don't know about any such newsgroup. You might find some freeware
games that way but probably just pirated games.

You can get legitimate, premium games for FREE from
http://www.kalador.com/reviewer/ for Nokia (and any other Java phone) if
you join the reviewer program.  You'll keep getting free games as long
as you write quality reviews for them.

Barry.

Have you got a phone bill yet?
I started getting spam in my 7 year old CLEAN email addy after I signed up
with this crew.
Maybe a coincidence?
As soon as they wanted my phone number in the signup I left.
If they want games reviewers they can email em to me.

Hi Rob,

I'm a Kalador employee, so there's no need to check my phone bill.

A few notes:
    - we do NOT share reviewer emails addresses with third-parties, and
only send emails related to the reviewer program (i.e. to say that a
game is available for review).
    - there's no need to provide your phone number. On the web-based
sign-up you have the *option* of having us send you an SMS to make it
easier to register your phone, but the first option we list is to type
the URL into your phone's browser yourself.
    - when registering your phone, there's a field for entering your phone
number, but again, it's clearly marked as *optional*.

We don't email games to reviewers for the following reasons:
    - we want to be absolutely sure what phone/device the reviewer played
the game on since experience can vary widely between different handsets.
    - some people may not be able (no data cable, etc), or may not know
how, to transfer the game from their PC to their phone.
    - emailing the latest premium Java games around might be too much of a
temptation to "share" them with friends; we need to protect our
development partner's property.

Delivering games to reviewers over-the-air (OTA) may cause some
reviewers to incur some data-charges, but it's also the easy way to get
content on your phone.  Hopefully the cost is worth it to most people
given that the game itself is free.  (Note that we do NOT get any share
of the data-charges from carriers - this program does not produce any
revenue for us, we only make money by actually selling games, which is
easier to do when we can present quality, non-biased reviews.)

Rob, if you've managed to avoid spam in your inbox for 7 years, I'm
quite impressed (though a bit skeptical).  I assure you that the spam
you received was NOT a result of joining our reviewer program.

I appreciate your feedback and will be considering how to best address
your concerns with the registration process.  Meanwhile, we'd still be
happy to welcome you to our program.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me
directly.

Barry.

Barry,

I am glad and hope it didn't come from you.
As soon as I saw the enter mobile number I just thought "scam", I was
obviously wrong.
When you can email files to me (I use a nokia 6280) I would be most
interested in reviewing your programs.
