Hello,
I just posted the following in another group as part of what
amounts to a rant. Do Nokia make a phone that's likely to
meet my needs?
| I don't want a digital camera in my phone. I have a
| slight preference for a mono display (they seem much
| more readable in sunlight). I want good audio, decent
| reception and firmware that works. An external antenna
| jack would be a definite plus, and it should work as a
| modem for CSD & GPRS with an RS-232 (preferred) or USB
| cable. I don't want flashing antennas, hi-fi ringtones,
| flips or slides, just a sensible, reliable business
| phone that doesn't suck horribly.
I forgot to mention in my original post that the phone
should ideally be quad band, but at least have 1800 and 1900
MHz GSM bands.

A 6310i would suit me better. Out of interest though, how
much are you charging for the 6230i?

If I was feeling generous I'd offer you my trusty 6310i but as it works so
reliably I won't :)
You could get one as they still appear in places as someone finds a boxed
item in their obsolete equipment box. Nokia no longer make anything that
fits your specification, I doubt any manufacturer does.
Sacrifice a few "needs" and try a 6230i. If you must have quad band then go
look at Motorolas, and no flames please! I use a V3i as my main phone and a
6310i for business contacts; pleasure and work well separated.

A friend of mine used to have a 6310i and I agree, it seems
almost like the perfect phone for me. I'm a bit baffled that
Nokia haven't replaced it with a quad-band version. :-( If
I could buy a 6310i today (at a fair price), I would.

You don't mention which country you're in. A quick search on UK websites
finds some silly high prices and some low ones for used, warranted handsets.
One website you may consider is www.nokia6310i.co.uk Expansys UK also have
a stock of 12month warranted handsets at around £140.

I'm British but I live in the U.S. I would like the phone to
work in both places, even if that means swapping out the SIM
to avoid "international roaming international calls".
Thanks for the links.

Expansys USA has a 89 left <g> at $225 plus delivery. Reworked,warranted
stock but a price comparable to the UK website. I don't work for Expansys
BTW, but do use them regularly.
