Hello,

I'm due for an upgrade and the problem is  I can't choose between the N91
and the N80. I really want the N91 for its storage capability but I wouldn't
mind the N80 for it's a good bit smaller and better resolution screen.  Can
any users of these devices give their opinion?
Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

G

I guess it depends on your needs.  The N91 seems to be more musical
manipulation/transfer/player oriented, has a larger chunk of memory for
storage.  On the other hand. the N80 is more phone oriented (including
quad band, if that's a benefit in your travels), has the the screen &
size benefits you already mentioned, & actually appears to have larger
overall storage capability if you don't mind buying & swapping multiple
2 gig memory cards.

Having noted the above, I own an N80.  Here in the US, missing the 850
band would limit phone usability.  Which makes the N91 less practical
here.  Also, I have a satellite radio that has mp3 player capabilities,
as well as being able to record & timeshift sat broadcast content.  So,
I'm not lacking for portable entertainment options or variety.  I've
been quite happy with the N80.

I love N80 screen! I think it's the first one with such tiny pixels! You
wouldn't belive how smooth the image is!
Only, I have problem with its software. I had none with 7650, maybe cos I
bought it a year and a half after it was released and I got all the
revisions. This time, I think I got the first version, at least it says
N80 - 1. And I already got several random reboots, and something is wrong
with sending SMS messages, it takes a long time for that sending screen to
go away, it wasn't like that initally. Other than that I love it. It's just
a matter of time, wait for software to become available for it, and wait for
newer OS versions.

The SMS may be settings.  Did you verify with your carrier that your
settings match what they put into a phone, at this point?

The only problem I've run into, so far, comes down to a specific theme,
"abstrakt2 by alfa".  If the phone has been unused for multiple hours &
I'm in the standby screen, going to contacts will hesitate momentarily,
then throw me back to the standby screen.  It only happens with that
one theme.

No, settings are ok. It wouldn't work if they weren't. For instance now,
I've sent it (the SMS) and it returned to the main screen, and there was no
provider name or watch at the top for like 10 seconds and then everything
came back. As if sending that SMS was SUCHA burden to it lol. How can I
check what version of OS do I have? Also, N80 has different Symbian than N91
and N70? Since usually those two are named for software and N80 isn't,
usually.

Is that better or worse than "the cat's nuts?"

There is nothing wrong with abstinence, in moderation.

That may be a compliment in British English, but goes begging as to why
it would be, in American English. :-)

Don;t touch the N80.
Worst decision I ever made was to buy this piece of crap.

Rubbish battery life and the slider keeps opening in my pocket.,
Poor design for a flagship phone, and the last nokia I will ever buy.
