Under contacts I can add various different numbers i.e. mobile (home),
mobile (work) etc etc.
Is there any way to tell what number I am being called from when the
person is calling because it just shows the name and a little icon for
if it is a mobile or landline and the name is always the same.
Many thanks!

Do you mean seeing the number before answering the call? After the call you
can always find the number from the call log (a bit complicated though).

Well it would be nice if the phone stated which number was calling i.e.
Pete (Mobile work) or Pete (Home).

I guess yes but if it is only two numbers, then you could assign the mobile
icon for one, the fixed line icon to the other number.
If you have more numbers per name (like private fixed line, private cell
phone and work cell phone), then I guess you cannot do it with a S60 device,
you would need the "basic S40" device to perform such complicated functions
;-)

Make two seperate records of the name.
- Name
- Name MOB
When you see "Name MOB" you know it is the mobile line, and you can use
it immediately to respond without to make a choice in numbers.
Same for the other "Name" without a suffix, you know it is a landline,
you can use it immediately to respond without to make a choice in numbers.

Well that's what I used to do on pre-s60 phones but that kinda defeats
the point of having the ability to list multiple numbers under the same
name...
