It seems Nokia are using all three types in their S60 3rd devices. Any hints
one which one they'll use in the future?

No idea, it is a shame they are playing around with so many different
cards.  It would be good if they could settle with just one like they
did with one charging socket for so long.

Exactly. I just brought a 2 gb RS-MMC for my 6230i thinking it would be
compatible with the new series of smartphones. But only the E60 will take
it, and its not quite multimedia oriented.

Didn't know E60 was using RS-MMC, anyway thought "SD" was mostly used in
recent models. Micro-SD would be a safe option because you can have adapters
for that for mini-SD and for SD phones.

Never seen any adaptors that can convert from micro to mini. They all
convert straight upto normal SD size.

I'd guess miniSD or microSD, because MMCMobile (or DV RS-MMC) was used in
older terminals.

I'd prefer miniSD, because they seem to be available pretty well, and they
can be easily used with a regular SD slot with an adapter. And they are
physically easier to handle than even smaller microSD cards.
