Just starting here so please bear with me.

I just got a Nokia 6030 thru the TMobile to-go service.  I am thinking
about figuring out how to have my pc talk to it.  However, before I do
that do I have to "unlock" it?  Is that the first order of business?

tks

The 6030 is not designed for connectivity to PC's.

Not officially supported by Nokia you mean.  There are plenty of third
party cables out there and these work with LogoManager Pro Suite on the
6030, even if Nokia's software doesn't work with it:
