Hi
My girlfriend has just been given a new Nokia N70 as part of her
contract with Orange in the UK. As she's very happy with her existing
phone I'll be getting the N70 for myself.
I'm assuming that the N70 will be locked to Orange (I'm currently on
T-Mobile) and currently these phones can't be unlocked by anyone other
than Orange themselves - question is, what do I need to do in that case
to use the phone? Is it simply a case of buying one of the PAYG sims
from Orange and using that? I'd rather keep my current number but it's
not a deal breaker?
Thanks very much

Your girlfriend could just ask Orange to unlock the phone for her. It'll
cost about £20, I think. They will only do this for the first registered
owner of the phone so your gf needs to ask, not you.
Of course, if your gf works for Orange and got the phone as a result of
that then they might be a bit tetchy about unlocking it :-). I only
mention this as it's the time of year for Orange employees to get their
new phones ... and for their old ones to appear on eBay :-)

No worries Steve, thanks very much for the reply!
Just one other question - if I get the phone unlocked and stick with
T-Mobile will I be able to use my existing PAYG T-Mobile SIM?
I ask because my current phone is not 3G (it's a Nokia 8310) - will my
(old tech) SIM be compatible?
thanks
