Will this replace the Maps application in my N95?  And, most importantly
- will it enable the GPS to lock on much more quickly than now?

I've just done a 5-week around the world trip, and had downloaded all
the maps for everywhere we went.  But as a GPS unit, the phone was
totally useless - unless I was willing to stand on a street corner for
up to 15 minutes to get a fix, even if I'd just turned the GPS off two
blocks back!  Absolutely useless.

And I tried to get 1 week's worth of voice navigation via my global
roaming connection, billed to my phone account - failed miserably (in
New York) but the charge went through anyway!

Methinks I'll be looking again at a dedicated GPS unit like the Navman
next trip.  We managed to get everywhere we needed with good old paper
street maps this time, but the phone/GPS would have been handy for some
situations.

Someone has posted that using the GPS on the N95 with 3rd party software
gives a much faster lock-on, so it seems to be at least partly software-
dependant.  Maybe this new version you're testing could speed things up
to the point where the GPS actually becomes usable?
