N95 software update problem

I'm trying to update the software on an Orange N95 (UK).  Using the
latest PC Suite, I plugged the phone in and backed everything up without
problem, when I clicked on the update phone software I was told to
install some software on the pc and the phone (it said PC Support was
missing on the phone).

After this nokia did an auto-update of some drivers and software and I
was told to unplug the phone.  When everything was finished, I plugged
the phone back in and now it is no longer recognised?!

I tried a number of times but Vista just says that it does not recognise
the device anymore, when I tell it to find the drivers for me it goes
off looking for a while before returning an error message for each of
the different components for the phone.

Any ideas what I can do to fix this?  Uninstall/reinstall PC Suite?

Many thanks,

Moo

I'll give it a go later on tonight, seems daft that an automatic
update would break everything.  Most annoying!  Thanks.

I just tried updating my N95. Nokia Software Updater wanted to update
itself first with a new version first, so I went ahead with that. Now,
when I run the updater I get a message which says:

"Sorry, Microsoft Windows Vista is currently not supported. Vista
support will be added again as soon as possible."

The previous version of Nokia Software Updater seemed to run fine on
my Vista system so I'm not sure why Nokia no longer support Vista on
the latest release.

I think Nokia are having problems with their server at the moment (I
got this information from a reputable phone shop) and this manifests
itself in different ways.

So I think you should wait a few weeks and try again !
I have a N95, 3 x 6280's and a 6288 between my wife and myself and I
am holding off updating !

I did try updating one of the 6280's, and I use Windows XP Pro, and
had the exact same problem as you have with the N95 !!!!!

I did upgrade my software to 20.0.015 (from 12.0.013) on 31-12-2007
and as the update is only minor (only the last 2 verion numbers have
changed), I am holding back, in fact I might not bother until a bigger
update occurs.
Basically tou have to reinstall EVERYTHING from scratch when you
upgrade.. what a pain !
I wish Nokia would explain EXACTLY what these updates include.. then
you could make an informed decision whether or not to upgrade !

Regards,
Steve

Just to clarify, my problem is not related to the upgrade firmware of
the phone, its with the Nokia Software Updater application itself.

I have exactly the same problem, and I have XP home.
I have tried al kind of sh.t to get it right, Used the regclean from Nokia
and everything, So my conclusion is, Nokia is a sh.t company.
I wish I had stuck with sony ericsson, which never gave me any problems
and have a more logical structure of menu's.
So if anyone from Nokia listens, you stink, a.sholes.
