How would I connect a laptop to a Sanyo 5300?

I went to Radio Shack and bought the Software for using the 5300 as a modem.
I was given the USB cable for free.

I downloaded some software from SprintPCS that says something about wi/fi
and USB.

I haven't done anything else yet, and I know the answer has probably been
posted 100 times or more on this NG.  I've searched some of the messages in
the last month and haven't seen what I'm looking for.

Do I need anything else and if not, is there any special setting I need
before I install the downloaded software.

Many Thanks.

If you haven't downloaded and installed the Sanyo drivers, you need to do
that. You can get the drivers from
http://futuredial.com/support/download/Sanyo_4900_USB_Driver.zip . Install
the drivers.

Connect the cable to the phone and then to your laptop. It should see the
new hardware, and ask for the drivers to install the new hardware. Point it
to where you downloaded the drivers. Then set up a new dial up, using the
the new Samsung set up, and plug in the phone number #777, and do not
include a user name or a password.

Thanks.

I have wireless internet working now.

When I installed the software from Sprint, it didn't ask for a phone number,
password or username and it worked pretty well after installing the driver,
that you mentioned,  for my phone.

The only problem is, OUTLOOK Express can receive my e-mail, but I keep
getting errors when I try to send it.  I'm sure I have it set up the same
way I have it setup on my home computer, but the wireless connection just
can't send email using imap.sprintpcs.com.

I've seen this particular problem discussed earlier, on this NG, and I can't
remember what the answer was.

Any help sending e-mail via outlook express would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is there anyway to reach a newsreader with Outlook Express?

Thanks.

That isn't the outgoing server.  I'm told imap.sprintpcs.com works for
*incoming*, although I use pop.sprintpcs.com.  For outgoing, you need
smtp.sprintpcs.com.

I work for SprintPCS
I *don't* speak for them.

I had not tried that yet.

I managed to send e-mail with my land line provider, using that
"authenticate" deal, so it isn't as critical as it was to get it working
now.

Thanks.
