Is your Port Apparently Stuck?  If you are going TO Sprint, EMAIL me your
porting telephone number, and I will see what I can do.  I can give you a
status, and fix it if need be.  Also include your first name.  I will call
you back with the contact number on your bill, or email you.

Why not OUT?  Because its 100% the problem of the new provider.  NO CARRIER,
I repeat, NO CARRIER can hold up a number LEAVING the provider.  In fact
there are ways a new provider can just take the number anyway.. if they
really wanted it... after Proper documentation and escalations, and they
have that ability.

I know because I work at the port center for Sprint, and we have done it,
when the other carrier was unresponsive or didn't know what they were doing.

onguardspam-news@yahoo.com.  Send me requests for status of a port INTO
Sprint, and I can help.

From Nextel's website:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Number GuardSM is a free service that protects your phone number from
all unauthorized changes. By adding Number Guard to your Nextel account,
your phone number cannot be taken away to another carrier and
deactivated without your permission. No changes will be made to your
phone number until you request Number Guard be removed from your Nextel
account. And you can remove Number Guard at any time, free of charge, by
calling 1-866-967-9567.

By selecting this free service, you are saying, "Yes, I would like to
add Number Guard to my Nextel account to protect the phone numbers I am
activating with this purchase today from any unauthorized changes."

And?  What was that for?  I know about that.. it can be removed, and it ONLY
applies to Nextel.  I am talking about companies being blamed for holding up
the actual port.. assuming there isn't an administrative lock.. there is no
reason it should not port.

I was told my number was stuck.  I've been waiting for over 14 days.  After
holding for 60 minutes each time, I was told by three representatives over
the last week that I'd get a call within 24 hours.  Each time, it didn't
happen.  I'm waiting to port from AT&T to SprintPCS.

<sigh>

The EXACT same thing happened to me for exactly the same wait. It
wouldn't be so bad, except that Verizon switched over the line a week
ago and I haven't had any service.

double sigh.

Wow...  I guess I feel a little better.  It would totally be frustrating to
have no service.

The FCC really needs to step-in and clean up this mess it created.  What has
happened is unacceptable.

Over 30 days for me now.  Porting from SBC to Sprint.  Still can make calls
from home, but no incoming.  One positive, if one can find a positive, is
that I'm now  working with one person through executive services, so no more
long waits on hold.  My contact is sure they can figure out what happened in
my situation.  It's been so long, I don't worry about it anymore.

SBC?  Landline service?  We've been trained that a port in
from landline to cellular will take 30 days.  I'm surprised
they've escalated it this far already if it was a landline
to cell port.
