I have a Sanyo 8100 that is a good phone except I have a hard time hearing
with it. The volume seems to go up and down even when I have the ear piece
in the exact right spot. It also has a shallow or tinny sound that makes it
hard to understand the words even when the volume is ok. I got this phone at
Costco and they now have a Samsung VI660 which looks like it might fit my
needs since I don't need a camera. The problem is you can't listen to them
there. Does anyone have any experience with this new Samsung ? or any
suggestions as to how to remedy my problem with the Sanyo?
Thanks

Just got this phone for my daughter and so far it seems good -- no history
yet though.

Make sure you have the latest 8100 software, which is version 1.115SP
(look under the phone info menu). If you don't, upgrade it and see if
this helps the volume issue.

I'm currently testing the A660. The sound is loud, even and clear,
perhaps a tad shrill at times. The reception--like most or all newer
SPCS phones--is superb. This phones has lots of good features,
particularly with regard to voice commands. It's also slim and
relatively lightweight. My main gripe so far is that, for the price,
there really ought to be at least a minimal external display. Costco's
price ($199.99) is more realistic, but is still about $20 or so too
much, IMO. The outstanding thing with Costco is that if you save your
receipt and original packaging, you can return your wireless phone  AT
ANY TIME in the future for a full refund.

The A660 seems to be very good equipment. Whether or not it's really
too pricey is up to the individual consumer, I guess.
