I've seen lots of posts about troubles with number porting.. Just
thought I'd give my little experience- I just signed up to sprint, I
previously had MetroPCS. I left the store after signing everything up
with my new phone at about 6PM. I was pretty surprised when at about
9PM, my new phone rang- my port had already been completed! I could
use my old MetroPCS phone to make outgoing calls for the remainder of
the night, but any incoming calls to my old # came to my new sprint
phone.
So far, so good- I'm quite satisfied with sprint currently. Honestly,
I wouldn't have switched from my $35/month unlimited plan with
MetroPCS if it weren't for the fact that I'm moving to Boston soon,
MetroPCS is strictly local, and my girlfriend's old phone broke so she
needed a new one.... But yeah, got the 1000 anytime shared minutes
plan, nights from 7 and weekends free, free pcs to pcs.... standard
features... $50 first 3 months, $70 from then on. Not a bad deal. I'm
a bit sour about the contract though; One thing I liked so much about
MetroPCS was they didn't require contracts for you to get good deals
from them, now I'm locked into a contract with Sprint, banking on my
girlfriend's statements that Sprint works well in the Boston area. Ahh
well - point being, the number port worked quickly and flawlessly.

If you can't trust your girlfriend, there's a moral there.
