connecting my cell to my palm

Capn - 24 Mar 2005 19:03 GMT I know some people have mentioned that sprint is cracking down on this, are there still ways to do it though if you have unlimited internet service with your cell? I have a 7300 sanyo and would like to connect my palm to send off a quick email or check on work stuff quick, what would I need to do this, just a cable?

Are you on a Vision Plan, or one of the older plans?
If it's Vision, Sprint has turned it's head the other way, as long as usage isn't excessive. (Note: No one knows how "excessive" is defined. <g>) Checking e-mail, a few times per day, certainly shouldn't be a problem.
If you're on an older plan, you can connect as long as you want, and as many times as you want.

And you'll pay 39c per minute if not using Vision.

In the past, if you signed up for Web access (I forgot Sprint's exact terminology), data minutes just came out of your voice bucket.
Has this changed?

That was it!

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to say.
When I was on a WW plan ($5/mo), years ago, my data minutes just came out of my voice bucket. (There were no additional charges.)
Later, when I purchased a Vision phone, I was given the option of retaining my WW plan, with data and voice minutes still coming from my voice bucket. (Still, no additional charges.)
I chose (stupidly?) to switch to a Vision plan, mainly for the higher speeds, thereby losing the ability to (legally) connect to the Web, using my phone as a modem, for long periods of time.

When we signed up with Sprint, before Vision existed, we could have gotten on the Wireless Web but would have paid $0.39 per minute for the privilege. Data calls through the phone from a laptop would have cost the same.

The $5/mo allowed you to use your voice minutes as data minutes.
Without the $5/mo charge, you were assessed $0.39/min, in addition to having the data minutes taken from your voice bucket.

I was just told, by a friend, that he paid $9.95/mo for WW.
It's possible that the $5/mo, I remember, was a promotion.

Such as it is with F&CA plan add-on.

Just like vision if you didn't have the plan add-on they would charge you a few cents per what ever means they were charging by, such as minutes with WW or data with vision.
