Best Sprint Plans availble Now? (did it change w/ merger?)

tforms1@yahoo.com - 19 Sep 2005 17:13 GMT I have been a Sprint customer for over 5 years now.
In March, I was in the Manhatten and went to a local Sprint store.
I asked what the best plan available to me (since I have been a "loyal" customer) was.
I was told: 750 anytime minutes, unlimited (or 5k, dont remember) nights/weekend starting at 8pm. (since my plan starts at 8) for $40...plus a $75 rebate on a new phone
If I wanted 7pm it would be 5 dollars more a month.
I had to travel out of town for work, so I never signed up for the new plan.
Last week, I finished my project and was able to get into the city again. I stopped by 1 sprint store and was told that since I had a 8pm night/weekend plan, they could not help me, I had to call customer support.
I went back to the original store (there was an hour wait) and the guy who helped me did not work there anymore, so I left.
What is the customer service number the first store was refering to?
Does anyone know the deals Sprint is offering now? Has it changed since the merger?
Do you think my deal is still possible (even though the guy left) and is it the best one possible?
Thanks

Maybe you don't need to change your plan, but just find you need to add an option like F&C A roaming, for $5/mo. to your plan.
I'm guessing that you have completed your AA and are no longer obligated to pay a cancellation fee if you decide to change carriers.
Most, if not all, of the new plans available, as shown on www.sprintpcs.com, now come with a 2 year obligation. Same thing for the applying for a credit to get a new phone.
You should review the plans offered on the site and compare them to your current needs. Then you can call SPCS, either on your cell phone via *2 TALK, or on a landline, which if it was yours truly making that call, would be on a speakerphone / landline @ 888-211-4727 and speaking with a rep. That way, you've got your fingers free to reference web sites at the same time. If you want to change your plan, you can discuss that with them, and the credit for a new phone, so that you combine both options at the same time, and have just one two year commitment.
Before you do call though, check out the competing wireless markets covering your area, and see what they are offering. If it's a better deal that what you currently have, or what SPCS offers now, you can bring that info into your conversation with the Sprint PCS rep, and ask them whether they can meet or beat those other carriers plans.

jayskinner@gmail.com - 19 Sep 2005 23:57 GMT That appears to be the standard retention plan I've had for a few months now, which Sprint offered (after I asked) when my one year contract term was coming to a close. Just call Customer Service and ask what they can do to keep you as a customer, and you'll ilkely get that plan.

One Rep won't give you a thing, except for a "Don't let the door hit you in the a.s" attitude, while the next will try to give you as much as possible.

larryt510@hotmail.com - 20 Sep 2005 03:00 GMT Sprint no longer has a retention dept. so it might be alot harder to get one of those deals now.
tforms1@yahoo.com - 21 Sep 2005 05:51 GMT > Sprint no longer has a retention dept. so it might be alot harder to > get one of those deals now. Shoot, really?
I knew I should have signed up when the guy offered me the deal.
Do you know whats the best deal they are offering current customers?
I want to spend around 40 a month.
Notan - 21 Sep 2005 06:25 GMT > Sprint no longer has a retention dept. so it might be alot harder to > get one of those deals now. While they don't have a "Retention Department," per se, ask CS for the "Cancellation Department."
It should get you to the same place.

Jerome Zelinske - 20 Sep 2005 02:43 GMT What plan are you on now? On average how many minutes do you use per month? For one of the new plans to match the family plan we are on now would add roaming, but cost $12.5 per month more.
> I have been a Sprint customer for over 5 years now. > [quoted text clipped - 30 lines] > > Thanks larryt510@hotmail.com - 20 Sep 2005 02:59 GMT Sprint has a couple of new plans that are pretty sweet. $35/mo now gets you 400 anytime, and free roaming included (affiliates might not offer these deals). They also have 1000 anytime, roaming included for $55/mo. These are not rentention plans are available to most customers.

$40 a month. Nationwide coverage 400 anytime minutes. unlimited night/weekends, starting at 8pm.
I would love to get more minutes and a new phone.

You can do better. In march of 2004 I received a retention deal of 1000 anytime and unlimited nights and weekends starting at 8pm for $50 a month. I would only sign a 1yr agreement so I only received a $75 rebate on the phone. I am now out of an agreement and haven't seen really a plan better than this.

That was in March, around the time I got the offer from that Sprint store.
But now with the merger, Im not sure if they still do these deals.
When I tried going to the store the other day, they wouldnt help me.

The stores, and "regular" Customer Service, can't offer you a plan than isn't in print.

tforms1@yahoo.com - 21 Sep 2005 19:50 GMT > The stores, and "regular" Customer Service, can't offer you a plan > than isn't in print. But it was the store who offered me the original plan I wrote about.
I'll try calling Sprint customer service (when my free nights kick in)

I've never heard of a store doing that.
By the way, you don't have to wait until your "free nights kick in" to call CS... It's free, 24/7, using *2.

I'm so used to calling in that I just assumed that everyone knew that about retention deals. Sorry about any confusion.

So actually I am getting 1150 anytime minutes.

There was, in the past, a service charge applied to a certain group of users, which name I've forgotten, prepaid maybe?

I decided to wait, plus I was going out of town for work. I went back last week (to a different store) and they said they cant work with me, because my nights start at 8pm, and that was done through customer service.
I went to the originally store, but there were too many ppl waiting, and I was told that guy doesnt work there anymore anyway.
I currently have: 40 a month for 400 minutes, unlimited 8pm nights/weekends. Nationwide.
stevie - 25 Sep 2005 18:21 GMT the one thing that's consistent with Sprint (and others) is that they are inconsistent. Notan wrote:

Jerome Zelinske - 22 Sep 2005 01:25 GMT With the current Fair & Flexible plans, you could get 300 adjustable anytime minutes, with the N & W starting at 7 PM., plus free roaming. Unlimited Sprint Mobile to Mobile Calling would be $5/month.
