As a SPCS customer, I'm curious about cell service around Blaine, WA.
Could my handset accidently roam on a Canadian provider?  I wouldn't
want to pay that bill.  How far into B.C. can I hold onto a SPCS
signal?

Thanks,
The Fantastic Firenzi Family

p.s.  I haven't been active in this ng for a few years.  I'm amazed to
see some of the old-timers still going at it!

I don't know specifically about service in Blaine, but it looks like
you're within a mile of the border, so if your SPCS phone's Roaming
setting was set to 'Automatic' and your phone momentarily lost its
Sprint signal, then it's as likely you could roam onto a Canadian
provider such as Bell Canada or Telus as you might onto Verizon
Wireless.  (Detail - also depends on the order of providers in the
phone's PRL and whose signal was acquired first.)

When I visited Niagara Falls, Ontario in 2004, I kept my SPCS phone's
Roaming set to "Sprint only" and I had no trouble using a Sprint signal
up to 2-4 miles into Canada.  When we traveled deep enough into Canada
that I lost the Sprint signal, I would then switch the roaming setting
to 'Automatic' and roam on Bell Canada for about 50 cents per minute.
Also, my wife visited Aldergrove, BC just a mile or so from the US, and
with her phone set to "Sprint only" she held onto a Sprint signal there.
