FWIW - 23 Nov 2005 14:09 GMT Finally, after a full week, Rob (O/Siris) has accepted my $10,000 wager that I can prove that Sprint sells phones that can be used as modems out of the box, and that this capability is outlined in the Sprint-branded materials that come with the phone.
I am waiting for him to accept my escrow, or to choose one of his own. This is a one day event at most.
He has finally agreed to back up his claims of "liar" with actual cash, and for this, Rob should be commend Rob very highly. This shows great integrity in that he is willing to back up his assertions with something tangible, and not just Usenet banter. Rob has finally realized that proving that people are "liars" is much more financially lucrative than simply caling them "liars" on message boards full of anonymous people ... which pays nothing. This is an important step. He realizes that insults are free and of little worth, but cash can be spent on one's self, loved ones, or charity. It can pay bills, buy cars, or be spent on an nice vacations. Insults just sit there on the screen.
As soon as Escrow is funded, Rob will have backed up a claim with money, which shows high confidence, and last but not least, he shall receive $10,000 free and clear should his claim be true. If I canot deliver within 24 hours, Rob gets it. $10K/day is not a bad wage.
I'll keep you updated as soon as funding is completed (I am fully ready at this monent, and I assume Rob is very close to being ready), and the outcome of the event.
Scott - 23 Nov 2005 15:41 GMT Like we give a sh.t. Rob has lost a lot of credibility and you never had any.
Why don't the two of you just go get a room.
FWIW - 23 Nov 2005 15:48 GMT >Like we give a sh.t. A minor correction if I might .... "Like *I* give a sh.t". Speaking for everyone is a common mistake made on Usenet. No harm done.
$10,000 wagers are usually of interest to someone.
>Rob has lost a lot of credibility and you never had any. Well, you can't pay the rent with credibility on a newsgroup, but you can with $10,000.
Ergo, our wager.
>Why don't the two of you just go get a room. Because the wager does not require the two of us to get a room.
Scott - 23 Nov 2005 16:16 GMT > >Like we give a sh.t. > > A minor correction if I might .... "Like *I* give a sh.t". I'll stick with the 'we'- you're in more kill filters than many of our previous trolls. You'll be joining mine shortly (like right after this post). I've finally decided that I don't need to waste the bandwidth to download posts from a bigoted, uninformed, uneducated, clueless, mindless, classless, tasteless moron like yourself. Your uselfulness as a play toy evaporated long ago, and you have contributed nothing of any worth since your arrival in this group. Not seeing your posts has absolutely no downside.
Feel free to have the last word- I won't see it.
FWIW - 23 Nov 2005 17:12 GMT >I'll stick with the 'we'- you're in more kill filters than many of our >previous trolls. You can stick with what you want. It doesn't make it so, nor does itmake it particularly relavent, IMHO. $10,000 is worth more to me than how many kill filters I am in. And you actually have no idea how many that is, you just have an innate need to be in the majority. I could not care less. I would rather have the money.
>You'll be joining mine shortly (like right after this post). Why does everyone announce their killfilter additions? Is someone, anyone, supposed to give a sh.t who is in your killfilter?
Heck, I bet an actual scientific poll would conclude that a $10,000 wager is of interest to more people than the contents of your killfilter.
>I've finally decided that I don't need to waste the bandwidth to >download posts from a bigoted, uninformed, uneducated, clueless, mindless, >classless, tasteless moron like yourself. I am glad you finaly decided that. But thanks for the lengthy reply to inform me. I reading Usenet "Kill Filter Opus"'s. They are usually creative, and more often than not, simply a ploy to not have to reply to an attack.
Like shouting at someone and then plugging your ears so you can't hear what they say back to you.
Most people silently drop folks they don't wish to read into their filters. Those who make a grandious exit simply feel mentally outmatched.
>Your uselfulness as a play toy evaporated long ago I don't even understand this comment.
> and you have contributed nothing of any worth since your arrival in this group. To the contrary. I have contributed $10,000.
Besides ad-hominem's, how much have you contributed?
Oh wait, you won't be reading this. I guess i'll go ahead and answer it: Nothing.
>Not seeing your posts has absolutely no downside. "We" have a remarkably similar feeling toward seeing your replies.
>Feel free to have the last word- I won't see it. Oh my how dramatic!
I give that Killfilter Opus a 3 on a scale of 1-10.
It had the requisite amount of ad-hominem's, but it just didn't have the feel of some of the better Usenet Opuses I have seen.
FWIW - 23 Nov 2005 17:34 GMT Rob, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. It would be helpful if you could go head and get the money positioned today. Otherwise, Monday would be the soonest that we could do it, and I am concerned that as time goes on, you will get scared and back out of the bet.
Don't be scared, go with your convictions.
If you are right, then you need to collect your money, and soon. If you can get setup within a couple of hours, you could actually receive the money on Friday, in time for early shopping.

Scott's "Like we give a sh.t" was correct.
Notan
FWIW - 23 Nov 2005 16:50 GMT >We took a poll. Of yourselves?
>Scott's "Like we give a sh.t" was correct. Hey, we just conducted a own poll. 100% of respondants said that they disagreed with you and Scott.
So apparently, your poll was horribly flawed.
thunder - 23 Nov 2005 18:29 GMT >> >Like we give a sh.t. >> [quoted text clipped - 6 lines] > > Scott's "Like we give a sh.t" was correct. We have a second "Like we give a sh.t" all moved !!!
FWIW - 23 Nov 2005 18:43 GMT >We have a second "Like we give a sh.t" >all moved !!! You can have 50 for all I care. If you don't want to read it, don't read it.
Unless someone is holding a gun to your head. Then by all means read it.
Safety first.
Bob Smith - 23 Nov 2005 20:31 GMT >>> >Like we give a sh.t. >>> [quoted text clipped - 9 lines] > We have a second "Like we give a sh.t" > all moved !!! Moved and filtered away ...
Bob ::noticing that with downloading 25 new messages just now, only 13 are showing up::
FWIW - 23 Nov 2005 20:42 GMT >Moved and filtered away ... Apparently not. How do you reply to a thread you can't see?
O/Siris - 24 Nov 2005 11:35 GMT > Finally, after a full week, Rob (O/Siris) has accepted my $10,000 wager Another in a growing list of proof of your dishonesty. I said no such thing.
Signature RØß O/Siris -+- A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue, but moderation in principle is always a vice. +Thomas Paine, "The Rights of Man", 1792+
FWIW - 24 Nov 2005 15:07 GMT >Another in a growing list of proof of your dishonesty. I said no such thing. You didn't?
You said, and I quote "You're lying. As usual when you get called on to prove one of your fabricated claims.".
In order to "call" a bet, you most match the offer. Which is $10,000. So you most definitely did "call" me.
Can it be assumed that you are running away from the wager?
It has been over a week, and it seem that you are not as willing to put your money where your mouth is as first indicated.
Why is that, Rob?
FWIW - 24 Nov 2005 15:36 GMT Well, Rob pussied out.
We actually had a little side action going on whether Rob would put up or not, but everyone involved took the "Rob will pussy out side", so nobody got paid.
One of Rob's vocal supporters even took the "pussy out" side.
It's easy to type lies, and things we don't really believe on Usenet. It's risk-free and costless.
However, people's real sentiment comes out when money is on the line.
unspeakable - 24 Nov 2005 16:52 GMT Jesus Christ dude, Shut the f.ck up...

Do you have Aspberger's Syndrome, or is this a pubescent testosterone demo?

FWIW - 25 Nov 2005 02:35 GMT >Do you have Aspberger's Syndrome, or is this a pubescent testosterone demo? It's a $10,000 wager.

>Another in a growing list of proof of your dishonesty. I said no such >thing. Interesting- Not only is the troll a moron, he is a liar.
Now, Rob- PLEASE don't get sucked in by this idiot again.
FWIW - 24 Nov 2005 19:24 GMT >Interesting- Not only is the troll a moron, he is a liar. LOL.
BTW, do you know anyone who took the side bet that Rob wouldn't put up the money? But any chance, was it ... ?
Remember, what we post for free, does not always reflect what we truly think when there is something tangible on the line.
Some of the folks calling me a troll were taking my end of the action in private email.
But I'll let him/her decide whether or not to tell.
>Now, Rob- PLEASE don't get sucked in by this idiot again. I haven't seen you offer Rob $10,000.
Any idiot willing to pay me $10,000 to back up my claims is hereby invited to "suck me in" (and no, not in the way that Scott does Rob).
