Hello,
My wife is seriously considering moving to Cingular from Sprint but I'd like
her to stay as I'm tied to Sprint through my employer (that is if I'd like
to get reimbursed) and the PCS-to-PCS on my plan is helpful to stay within a
tight budget.
She is currently spending $50 per month on her plan and wanting to stay
close to that amount. She has a basic wide area plan without any features
(e.g. FIMF, Unl SMS, Vision, etc.) What is the best possible retention plan
possible for her $50 dollars per month to get her to stay?
Thanks for the advice!

Have her call and say, "I'm thinking about cancelling my account; what's
available to me?"

Yea, that's the best way to do it. Have her know what the other plans are,
so she can pass on some initial details to the rep.

Any details that you can share to help educate me on what to look for?

It'd be real tough, at this point, to try and compare today's retention plans
with yesterday's.
Do you want Vision? PCS-to-PCS? What's acceptable for N/W starting time?
It's gonna boil down to what you need and what you consider a reasonable
charge.

Why would she want to go to Cingular anyway... CDMA is better quality GSM.
Not to mention Cingular has been brought down big time by the AT&T take
over.

GSM is NOT a CDMA protocol.
Cingular bought AT&T not the other way around

Any ideas on what we would expect to hear from that call in that price
range? I'm looking for things like Vision, SMS, etc....
Thanks,

It may come down to a 'spreadsheet' exercise....
Take you bill and breakdown the charges.....for her phone and your phone.
Then 'model' her charges under the proposed 'Cingular' plan(s)...
See what type of a Sprint plan it would take to 'beat' it... Then you know
what you have to 'beat'..
Also, as you have probably(hopefully!) done, compare coverage in the area(s)
you cherish most.....
From city to city across the US, different carriers 'win' in different
cities...

Can't you just beat her into staying? :)

Jeez !!!!!!!! Just call and say you wanna cancel !!!! They'll tell you the
best they'll do. Why the questions, you think someone on this group knows
better than the retention person you speak to what they'll offer, Your $50
per month will only go so far, maybe you can get free 7 pm nights and
weekends, will that make you happy ?
