Does anyone out there have a hitachi g1000?
How do you like it-- does it work pretty well?

Wonder how much it costs to activate it if I buy one used off of the
internet?

30 months ago when I bought mine it was the best thing going, but having
been discontinued for about a year, repair is non-existent. I battle several
times a day with the device thinking the keyboard lock is engaged, thereby
rendering it useless.

You'll need a basic voice plan plus whatever quantity of Internet megabytes
you determine.

As for me, I await the Moto Q and a soon to be released external
display/keyboard.

Can you not just use this thing like you would an internet phone-- in other
words use the PCS vision?  I had a 100 dollar phone plan with sprint for
awhile and the PCS vision was free.

Are you thinking you can make VoIP calls over the internet via the G1000?

Remember the OS is Pocket PC 2002. Many 'current' features are not
available. I still carry mine in addition to a Razr, primarily for lists,
tasks, exercise software, but it was never a handy cell phone.

I break down communications devices by class of communications: voice, SMS,
email, video, etc. The G1000 was good at all of those, but if you spend $100
to buy one, it's a roll of the dice if it works next week.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Occasional  check of the internet-- yahoo mail maybe.
If it is possible to check my corporate mail via outlook web-- I would do
that.
I don't think I would be interested in the "business connection" however.
