Hi Group,

I have a Treo 650 with Sprint but have a chance to get for free a Sanyo
MM7500.

My question is this having never used a Cellphone as a modem.

First.

Is the MM7500 this need breed of Broadband EVDO speed ?

Secondly..If  I connect this phone to my laptop to access the internet and
act as a modem, does this COST ADDITIONAL or just the cost of Sprint Vision
which is the $10 additional/month?

Will the laptop have higher access speeds than dialup?

TIA

1) The 7500 is EVDO capable. Have a look at:

 http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=847

2) The latest Data offerings are:

 Connection Card:

 40MB - $39.99/mo.
Unlimited Data $79.99/mo. (Sprint is currently running a special: $59.99/mo.*)

 Phone-As-Modem Data Pricing:

 40MB - $39.99/mo.
Unlimited Data $49.99/mo. (Sprint is currently running a special: $39.99/mo.*)

 * If combined with a Sprint PCS Plan and a 2-year subscriber agreement.

Unless Phone-As-Modem Data Pricing is selected, customers using a Sprint PCS
phone as a modem will be charged $0.02 per kilobyte for data usage.

3) EVDO speeds are *significantly* faster than dialup.

OK, this is where I was mistaken.

I somehow thought that once could just piggyback on the Sprint Vision
$10/month service and use that to power therir laptop
