6700 antenna

I'm going to be using the 6700 to tether to my laptop for network access in
a rural area.

Its for email, SFTP, and web browsing.

I'll only be transferring text files, and I'll tell my browser to skip
images while browsing.

I get reception, but obviously I'd like to improve it as much as possible.

Would an antenna help? Could someone recommend one? Are there alternative
solutions to improve reception?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Have a look at http://www.wilsonelectronics.com/.

It looks like they're working on an antenna adapter for the PPC6600, although
I have no idea about the 6600's similarities with the 6700.

In the mean time, you could try one of their "stick on adapters," either with
or without an antenna. (The same "with or without" goes for any adapter.)

You *do* know you're gonna get charged for tethering, right?

I was told by the salesrep I wouldn't be charged (just got it, still in my
14 days).

You won't know your getting charged until way past your 14 trial period.
Trusting a sales rep over what Sprint's TOS states is risky.

I didnt say I trusted him, its just what I was told :-)

The other reply noted which package I need for unlimited data, the price is
reasonable.

I'll contact customer service and adjust my plan.

Thanks for the tip!

Sorry, I was referring to the period *after* the first 14 days.

The latest Data offerings are:

 Connection Card:

   40MB - $39.99/mo.
Unlimited Data $79.99/mo. (Sprint is currently running a special: $59.99/mo.*)

 Phone-As-Modem Data Pricing:

   40MB - $39.99/mo.
Unlimited Data $49.99/mo. (Sprint is currently running a special: $39.99/mo.*)

 * If combined with a Sprint PCS Plan and a 2-year subscriber agreement.

Unless Phone-As-Modem Data Pricing is selected, customers using a Sprint PCS
phone as a modem will be charged $0.02 per kilobyte for data usage.

While I can't tell you when it actually started, I can tell you that
the information came from the "Service Plans & Rates" brochure, dated
01/06.
