Last month they managed to royally screw up my account when I tried out a new
phone and returned it. The reset my contract date, screwed up my retention
vision plan (the phone I tried was a PowerVision phone .. Samsung A920) yada
yada. Part of the deal was that they were going to give me a $50 credit for
the contract renewal, but they post dated it to the beginning of my next
billing cycle so that I could get the phone and be sure I wanted it. I
returned the phone, told them to cancel the plan changes and they put priority
notes on my account indicating when the real contract end date is because they
could not change this in the computer.
So, I thought it was all worked out.
Then I check online today and note that my first phone still has my old plan
of $70 for family share and $5 for America roaming and $15 for Vision. What!
Vision is still not fixed. So, I look closer and my second and third phones
are on the $59.99 family plan with 7PM minutes! Why are my two phones on
different plans? I call them up ... yada yada yada ... it is fixed now, but
you have to pay the bigger $148 bill and wait for a credit. Further, you can
cancel in November when you contract is up [if you want] because the priority
notes say so. After 30 minutes, the nice woman [she was nice] gets it all
straighted out and I can no longer view my usage for another month. Nice. I
don't believe my plan is really going to come up fixed or even close now as
something else in their system is going to screw it up.
So ... I am thinking VERY STRONGLY about just porting all my numbers tomorrow
and paying the ETF after a big protested fight [which I will surely lose]. I
am so irritated with the company now that I feel taking the business away,
even with paying the ETF is worth it to me at this point.
Only question now is which company will serve me better, Cingular or Verizon?
My Daughter would prefer Cingular, and I am not really sure and my Wife would
prefer whatever damn phone works.
This all started because I have spent the last 14 months working for two
different clients that have proven to be fringe coverage for Sprint, but
Cingular and Verizon serve just fine. I thought I would try a Sprint phone
reputed to have even better reception than my Sanyo 7400 [which it didn't].

I just left Verizon for the simple fact that I dropped a lot of calls in my
house. Sprint is not any better or any worse but the plan plus a discount
through my wife's employer made going with Sprint the better choice cost
wise.
I will give Verizon this: Their service is top notch. The respond quickly,
they listen and they do what they say they will do.
So far, I can live with Sprint. I may be getting the cellular repeater
someone mentioned a while back. (There goes the money we saved by
switching)

i have to admit that this is one reason that i haven't renewed my contract,
which was up in May.
i would like to upgrade my vga1000 and my wife's phone, and i would like to
add some features to my plan. i would surely be required to sign another 2
year contract.
but changing anything with Sprint can be a major headache. for now, i'm
just sticking with my original phones and contract.

Tommy TV,
You will find that the customer support and billing screw-ups also exist
with Cingular. They have the lowest rated customer support of all call
providers. Sprint is second worst. Therefore, Verizon is probably the best
alternative for you.

Hello..
I had Cingular, no complains.
Switched to Sprint and love it the same. I have to admit that I get a
drop call every 100 I think (I can't even remember when it was LOL).
Also, I recently renew my contract and got the Samsung A920. I also
got a Sandisk 512MB Micro Secure Digital Card (Transflash) and let me
tell you, it great !!. The mp3 player is very good, considering it's a
phone ! In general, I think Sprint is very good.
So, EVERY carrier has it's up's and down's. Is a matter of luck. Some
days I got a nice Cust. Serv. Rep. and sometimes I don't.
Good luck with your choice...

1) I hear/feel the pain, but Sprint DID resolve mine!
I had and experience with SPRINT, which was a 'left hand / right hand
problem' My son called Sprint asking very specific questions... and acted on
those responses... (He is on my plan). I got hit with horrendous charges...
At first Sprint stonewalled me, but the it was resolved to my satisfaction
and then some!
2) If you plan to switch, carefully check out COVERAGE in ALL the areas your
are normally in/around... They do differ.. greatly.
3) Also, check out data plans/policies, there are big differences....
4) IF..IF, you plan to go with Cingular.. .DO NOT, under any circumstances
'bundle' your bill with ATT(fka SBC) services.
There are multiple horror stories (documented) floating around, that make
your story look like a 'walk in the park'.
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16017961
5) Also make sure Cingular 'wants you' as a customer .... see
Cingular's new 'unprofitable' customer policies
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16546477
"So what is considered a profitable customer?"
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=961437
5) Rather than assuming a 'after a big protested fight [which I will surely
lose]', I would load up big guns and go after a 'fight' rather than laying
down your arms and walking away.
Some 'weapons of choice'
A) Send a registered mail to SPRINT, outlining your points and giving
them 10 business days to respond, or 'all legal remedies available to me
will be taken'
B) Then(assuming no answer in 10 days) begin your assault with opening
complaints with:
- BBB complaint
- State bureau of consumer affairs
- Clarkhoward.com
(note you cannot go to your public utilities commission, since they
are unregulated)

I chose Verizon and ported three lines over to Verizon. Now to gear up for
the fight with Sprint.

WA WA WA just get the f.ck out Veldhorse. From reading your posts here,
you're either a Mark, or Phillip in disguise. You must be a real Joy to
meet.

You are an a.s (Larry?). I have been a long time advocate of Sprint PCS until
very very recently. If you remove customer service, I still think they are a
real value. Coverage is on par with Cingular and Verizon; trailing only by a
little.

Correction: Sprint does not trail Cingular in coverage, only Verizon.

That depends where you are. Here in WI, Sprint PCS does have less
coverage, in square miles, than cingular, but more than verizon.

Does Sprint offer "No Roaming" charge in your area? If they do then I
guess you should be covered .. unless weak signal that I don't have any
experience.
Here, we have 5 phones and few weeks ago I picked up my granddaughter at a
local hospital (she does volunteer work during summer as part of school) and
she saw ROAM blinking when my was fine.
Inside hospital, my old Sanyo 8200 got "No Service" every few minutes.
Jerome Zelinske - 23 Aug 2006 14:25 GMT
I suppose I could add a roaming option to our FFF plan, or I could
switch to one of the new plans with free roaming, but we do not need to
roam so I will stay put.

So you've been happy with SPCS for a "long time," and now, because
SPCS screwed up a complicated transaction that *you* initiated,
you're dumping them? Is that the gist of it?

Indeed. They screwed it up badly. I checked with them before I did it and
was assured it would all work out. In the end I lost my $150 credit for a new
phone, had the contracts on three phones extended to two years and had two
plans instead of one. Only the latter issue was addressed and fixed. The
rest resides in a slew of complicated notes that I couldn't get a single rep
to agree was on was valid or what it meant. I was having reception problems
at two contract locations that I have worked at over the last 12 months ... so
I cut my losses, as was prudent.
