PCMCIA Finally being replaced... My friends new dell 1405 laptop doesnt
have a pcmcia slot but instead comes with an express card slot. When
will sprint come out with an express card for the broadband access. He
purchased this laptop not knowing this, stuck with a two year contract
using a pcmcia card. Sprint says sh.t out of luck! Ask any sprint REP
and they say they have never heard of it. Dell reps didnt even know any
company had any cards. Yet there website sells one model not sure who
from just dell names on it. But, I do know it only works with the
Verizon Network...Any help peeps? anyone have any info on when these
new cards will be released?

I don't know when the new cards will become available, but I ordered
the Kyocera KR-1 for use with a Mac PowerBook. The KR-1 plugs into a
USB port and provides a PCMCIA slot so that your current Sprint data
card will still work. Obviously an interim solution until the new
cards become available.  http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/kr1-router/

Same problem with my new Compaq. I'll look for the website that has
PCMIA to ExpressCard adapters.

Dell sells the CM-2700 Dazzle 990 plugs into usb slot that has a pcmcia slot
& also lets you download photos from your camera phone, have to check with
them to see if that will work.

Here's an adapter that allows you to use PCMCIA (or should I say 32-bit
CardBus) cards via USB.  I had to buy one for my new Dell Inspiron 6400 so I
can use my Verizon Kyocera KPC650 card.

I bought mine from www.mp3car.com.  It's expensive, approx $200 USD, and
appears to have very limited device support and a few quirks/bugs.

www.evdoinfo.com has info on the new Novatel V640 ExpressCard, but I beleive
they are selling Verizon data plans with those.  Didn't check about
Sprint...
