Is this unit basically a repeater that would allow me
to mount the antenna higher and use it in a VERY rural
area with little to none cell reception?

I saw one of the Call Capture products at Fry's last weekend. I almost
bought it but I'd wait for user reviews.

Anyone here have any experience with the Call Capture from cellcapture.com?

I would say that you would have better luck with the Wilson Products.
That is a company that you could look into to compare.
