Sanyo M1 as a modem

Sprint is sending me a M1 and I need to hope that this is possible
after the humiliation that I went through to get it.

Sprint recently gave me another line on my account for free. I ordered
an A900M for this line and disabled the nai immediately. But this line
has no vision services. So since my original line was eligible for an
upgraded, I focused on selecting the right phone. I picked the a940
since it seemed similar to the a900m but with a 2MP camera, and priced
at $50. However, it is on clearance and somehow not available from
telesales for an upgrade purchase. I really wanted to get the phone
right away so I would be eligible for contract renewal and new phones
for both lines at the same time.  THREE HOURS LATER, I was still on
the phone with telesales and/or customer service, fast becoming the
raging spazmo poster child for customer behaving badly. Finally
someone transferred me to retention, and a nice young man explained
that since the a940 phone was on back order he would sell me an M1 for
the same price. I had my eye on this phone from the beginning, but I
had decided it was too much $. In my mentally weakened state, I jumped
at the offer without checking whether #777 would work.

So can we PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, pull together and solve this?

You may want to check with www.sprintusers.com/forum as there you may find
more people having the same phone, and many old information may already been
posted and still available to read.

been there, posted.  There is a theory that sprint is is reading that
forum.  It's like no one is even trying to figure it out.

Are the steps below what you've done and to what success?
This is all contingent on the fact that you have installed the correct
driver for your phone.
- Plug your phone into your computer via USB/Bluetooth
- On computer, create new Network Connection using a modem
- From list of modems, select your phone
- Number to dial is #777
- No username/password is required

if the nai isn't toggled off, then none of that matters.
