I'm looking for feedback, from the folks in this newsgroup,
on recommendations on good signal acquisition/holding phones
in this category.

I've seen reviews at places like Phone Scoop, but I'd like
to hear from posters that I'm familiar with.

Thanks!

Hi
I would also like to know about the signal acquisition/ability to hold a
signal..I have had Sanyo phones on Sprint, they seem like the only phones to
hold a decent signal in a "fringe" area. I am thinking about getting the
MOTO Q.  Any comments would be welcomed.

Moto Q works about as well as any phone in fringe areas, IMO.

But then it depends on what you mean by "fringe area."

I consider most analog-roam only areas where I fish as "fringe" areas
and the Moto Q doesn't do AMPS, unfortunately, so I take an old
trimode  phone to call 911 in case of an emergency now.

I would recommend it over a Treo anyday unless you really need all
the features that a Treo has. Its too bulky and heavy compared to the
Moto Q.

I have the Blackberry 7130e and I love it. It works great. It holds a
signal as well as my old Sanyo. However, I am not in a fringe area. I
like the way it feels and looks. They do go through the battery
though. I just keep a charged battery ready to go.
