Are there any other Sprint FanBoi's here in this newsgroup or am I the only
one left? I am not a shill and don't own stock in Sprint (thank God for
that), however, I really do enjoy the Sprint service and believe that they
have a lot of good options like the ability to force roaming anytime that
you like.

While dumping the alt.cellular.sprintpcs bit bucket, I heard mikeyhsd
say:

I have at times been in locations where the Sprint signal was marginal,
but the roaming signal, usually Verizon or Alltel, was quite strong.
Since the phone always connects to its native network when it's
available by default, being able to force it to use the stronger roaming
signal is a good feature to have at times. I've found it particularly
useful when using my data plan to connect my laptop to the web.

peculiar as my katana defaults to roaming when the signal strength is not good enough to support true digital.

Yes, as it should. But the times I'm talking about are when the Sprint
signal is just strong enough to maintain the connection, but
particularly for modem use, is weak enough that the constant error
correcting is slowing the throughput significantly. Switching to the
stronger roaming signal gets it back up to normal throughput. For voice
and data when in motion, it can make the difference between erratic
connections as you move in and out of range, and a stable connection. Is
the feature something I use a lot? No... But it is a nice feature to
have when it's needed.

There is a good reason to force roaming when operating on any carrier. Only Sprint provides this excellent feature. Every cell service provider has dead or weak spots reglardless of how good the carrier is or how well they are rated. If you are in an area with marginal Sprint service, then you can force roaming on Verizon or Alltel in order to be able to initiate and maintain calls. It is really that simple. On the other hand, if you are using Verizon and have a very weak signal, you are stuck with the weak signal even if you are standing under a Sprint or an Alltel tower you can't make use of it.

So why don't you forceroam yourself over to the Sprint news group and
have warm fuzzies with them instead of being here with people who don't
like you?

I've been a Sprint customer since 1999.  The service is good, but
their poor customer support is apt to drive me away very soon.  Each
and every month for 18 months I've had to call them to correct billing
errors.  So no, I'm not a Sprint FanBoi.

next time you call ask to speak to RETENTION.

POLITELY explain the problems and allow them to help fix them.

PATIENCE is required.

retention is where you go when ready to change carriers but will al low them a chance to fix the problems.

Fanboi?  I don't think I can go that far.  Satisfied customer?  I'm there.
Confidence in the company?  Getting better by the day.  Do I think they
have the tools to kick a.s?  Only if they recognize them and learn how to
use them.
