Online ESN swap - is there a charge?

I see that Sprint web site allows changing the ESN online.

But - there is no mention of any cost or charge related to this
service, but after calling Sprint, no one really understood my
question and talked about upgrade, etc, and a $18 fee. And then the
$36 fee was also mentioned for certain activations.

So, has anyone recently done a ESN swap online, and if yes, did you
get a charge on your next bill or bills?

I need to do a temporary swap - change my account to a different ESN,
and then after two weeks, do another swap, so need to do two swaps
(have a damaged phone, old phone, and will soon have a new phone).

Any info on ESN swap cost for online swaps appreciated.

I have friends on Sprintusers.com that do it all the time, no charge, but
really don't know the specifics.  You can if you wish, goto irc.blitzed.org
#sprintusers if you're familier with the irc and ask them in real time.

Thanks - I did the swap, and then also used the online chat at
sprintpcs.com, who was able to answer the specific questions, so as of
now I believe that there is no charge for an ESN swap, the $18 or $36
amount is added only if a new phone is purchased from Sprint.
I won't know for sure until next month's bill, but all signs are that
online ESN swap has no charge.
