hello all...got an emailf rom treonuants with the Treo master on it,
looks nice.
anyone have this yet or a 800w they want to talk about...I've got a
755P which I will upgrade at first chance to 800w or maybe the new
master Treo

Sinbad,

I also have a 755P and was thinking along the same lines so I did a
bit of research. Both the Treo Pro and the 800W are Windows Mobile,
NOT Palm OS devices. Any add-on software you have for the 755P will
NOT work. Also, NONE of the added accessories (batteries, cradles,
etc.) from the 755P will work with the new models - cases most likely
will (except you would not have access to the stylus since some IDIOT
designer decided to put access to the stylus at the bottom of the new
models. Neither of the new models have IR and both use MicroSD cards,
not the MiniSDs used on the earlier models.

Finally, the Treo Pro is GSM only. Not sure when Palm expects to
release that model as a CDMA (Sprint / Verizon) unit. I'd suspect
awhile, since it would impact the sales of the 800W.

The Pro looks like a very nice machine - all I can say to Palm is
"make it in CDMA and Palm OS and I'll buy one".

I have a suspicion that the 755P and the original Centro are going to be the
last Palm (brand) phones that will run the Palm OS. I.e., everything from
here on out will be Windows.

I hope I'm wrong, though. While Windows Mobile is OK, the Palm OS has (had) a
lot going for it too.

Joel,

I'm starting to think the same thing. If that is the case, I will be
very disappointed. Been using Palm devices for 12 years now and have
no desire to have to contend with WinBlows on my mobile device.

Yes, I've been coming to the same depressing conclusion. When I can no
longer get a Palm-based phone, I'm hoping I'll be able to get a Linux,
Mac OS X, or Android phone on Sprint.

I'm simply NOT going to carry a Windows-based phone. Ick.

True and not true, WM may have had and still has issues although it is much
improved over the past year or so, but atleast its not stuck in 1998 with
little improvements in the past 10 years like the PalmOS.
