I've been on ebay, the howard forums, phonescoop, and the normal ones like
amazon et al. Also to my local resellers and Tmo corporate store.
Just wondering if I missed something.
Wife and I would like to get camera/video phones because our baby is due in
August (and may not make it till then). I don't want to be caught off guard
without a camera for the event. The phone camera seemed a logical go
between since I always have my phone with me.
In my 7th month with Tmo and they will only give me a $45 discount on the
phones of my choice for extending my contract I have to wait until November
to get the really deep discounted price. (I asked via email and phone just
to make sure there was nothing I could do to make it happen).
I'm trying to stay with Nokia and have been eyeing the 6600 and 6230 and my
dream would be the 7610 because it has a megapixel camera in it :)
Any other places to look?

Man, you don't want that, trust me on this one. Even the cheapest
brand-name digicam takes better pictures than the most expensive camera
phone. Do you really want to capture that moment in a fuzzy, stamp-size,
blurry picture?

Well I have a 35mm camera in the car that could be used but all my digital
stuff might not
be charged at that moment (she is preterm and having contractions). I just
wanted to
cover myself in case my digital camera's batteries are dead in the car.
Well then again, I do have a household outlet converter in the car so I
could technically
get about 15 minutes of charge on the batteries on the way to the hospital.
That will take
probably 2 pictures with flash :)
I don't know. I guess because of the 1 year unlimited picture/video
messaging promo going on,
it's making me drool. *grin* Don't want to miss out.

Yeah, but that could happen with the battery in the phone too, couldn't
it? Suspenders-AND-belt solution: get a digicam that can also accept
standard AA and have a pack of the most expensive kind handy.

Good thing mine does. So I can keep a pack in the car, those E energizer
batteries or something like that.
I still like unlimited video messaging :)

The energizer Lithium batteries are wonderful. Very light, and they
last around three times as long as standard AAs.
You could also think about disposable 35mm film cameras as a real last
minute backup. I try to keep one or two of those in my car. Phone
cameras don't usually have a flash, so you can have serious problems
in even moderate indoor lighting conditions.

Do you live in a major city with a Chinatown? I'm not Chinese but, once
per year, I get a new phone in the Chinese area of Los Angeles. I always
get the best rates, no rebate, no fuss.
