how to turn off voicemail message

i have tmobile in los angeles and use a 722i.  everytime someone leaves a
voicemail, i get a text message that a voicemail has been left for me.  how
do i stop that.  i checked the phone setup and also the tmobile voicemail
setup and cannot find it.  is it there?  thanks

You cant turn off the text message.. it is the only way TMobile will notify
you of vociemail

If you use the voicemail, it will only send that... or dont use voicemail

If someone leaves you a message in your voice mailbox that's how you
get notified that there is a voicmail waiting for you.  It's not
broken so why do you want to break it?  That's the way it's supposed
to work.

It's only supposed to work this way on t-mobile. Other carriers use the
"New voicemail!" icon on the display. But then again, it could be worse:
could be Sprint, where you have to dial in to retrieve SMS.

Believe it or not most GSM carriers use SMS notification rather than a
message waiting indicator (tape reel icon.)

Ah once again so glad I'm in the former PowerTel region of T-Mobile so that
I can continue getting the VM reel instead of the annoying SMS.
