I am a T-Mobile customer, whose contract has long expired. I know that if I
purchase a phone in a T-Mobile store, I can get the same price as a new
customer can, in exchange for renewing my service contract.

I am not sure if that will also work by purchasing the phone directly from
T-Mobile (online or via telephone), rather than a T-Mobile store. I suspect
so, but am not sure. Anyone reading know about that, anyone done that?

But I'm also wondering--how about purchasing the new phone through
Amazon.com? They seem to have the best price deals, rebates, etc. Of course,
these prices are normally for new users. But since I can get the same price
as a new user in purchasing from a T-Mobile store, and probably directly
from T-Mobile as well, I'm wondering if I can do that through Amazon as
well.

Anyone know? Anyone done that?

I don't even know a phone number to call at Amazon and ask about that. Does
anyone know of a phone number for their cell phone department?

I talked to T-Mo Cust Care a couple of days back. The rep said that the
prices online are for new customer only and may differ for some phones than
from prices in T-Mo's stores. Thus, continuing customers are matched with
store prices. However, this rep told me that I don't have to renew a
contract (maybe bcoz I upgraded to a new plan 2 months ago and already
renewed contract). I'm not sure of going the amazon way...

Now having the headache of selecting what handset i want.

Are you saying that the rep told you that you could get the same price for a
phone in a TO-Mo store as a new customer, without renewing your contract in
return? That surprises me, as I thought those prices were only for either
new customers or contract renewals.

Amazon.Com TMobile deals are only for new Activations... Not renewels or
existing customers
