Is it wise to buy a Tmobile activation kit in Los Angeles when my home city
will be St. Louis Mo?  Would I have the wrong area code?  I currently have a
tri-band phone that supports 1900 GSM that I use in the Philippines and was
just wondering if I can get cell service when I arrive for a stay in Los
Angeles or should wait till I arrive in St. Louis.

Oh pardon me.  I am going with the "Pay as you Go" plan.  I'm pretty sure I
would have the wrong area code and this would be confusing for people
calling me.  But just wanted to be sure.

When you bcall to setup TMOBILE TO GO (the new name for EasySpeak) they ask
you for the City and Area Code you want. There is not a call center for each
Area code. So you can set it up the day before you leave, and be ready when
you get off the plane. I would do some research with anyone you may know so
you know what Prefix you want to get. Sometimes, in big area codes, Prefixes
can be toll calls from each other. So you need to find out what the closet
Prefixes are to the area you will be staying in. Call TMOBILE customer
service for TMO To Go and ask what numbers do they offer, and what cities,
they can tell you so you have this all squared away, in advance. In fact, I
believe if you go to their website, and pretend you want to get a PostPaid
acct, yoiu can see what cities they have within an area,

Here, go to this page and then select a state, then select a City. So youll
know what ois this closet city to where you are going. And that is how they
usually issue thenumbers. They will say OK I have the following numbers for
the "BlahBlah area Then check with frirndds, or see what numbers are close
to where youll be going. The good news is if you make a msitake, you get 1
FREE number change every 90 days. (Starting with 1 immediately if it seems
it wont work out)

You can get it activated now and when you're in STL you can simply
call T-Mobile and they will change your number from an LA number to a
STL number.

Just for peoples info:

I called and spoke to Tmobile customer service rep and she stated I would
need to wait to get to my home city for activation.

Ican only say BULLSh_t. I have 5 PrePaid TMO accts. They have been LA
numbers, Mass numbers. Have been LA numbers and everythuing else
CAll back, and dont tell them exactly what you want to do. Tell them you are
there, and want to activate it. Period If you want to wait then wait. I told
you EXACTLY how to do it in my first post. I love how people come on here,
ask for advise, then call TMOBILE last, and then tell everyone how its
supposed top be done.

No offense guy but its always wise to get info from multiple sources.  I
didn't say the cust rep was right I'm just reporting what they said.  I
appreciate the help.

I purchased a prepaid SIM in Chicago and activated it with a San
Antonio area code, no problems, no questions asked. Just go to the
store and do it instead of getting conflicting answers here :)
