>So maybe_backwards_ - 6010>5190 would work too then.............
Yes, it will work either way. SIMs are standard throughout the GSM
world to allow you to pop them into different phones as you upgrade.
In many cases, carriers "lock" their phones to allow only their SIMs
to be used with phones they supply, but that is done to allow them to
recoup the subsidy they supply when giving our phones. This
restriction can be removed in several different ways.
>like this: my wife gets a 6010 in her name and I want to put the SIM (once
>in great while) into MY old 5190 that I have left from a closed account ?
If the 5190 is locked to a specific carrier, you'll have to get that
removed. A phone can remained locked even if your service with that
carrier has been discontinued. You won't be able to get your old
carrier to give you the unlock code if you no longer have service with
them -- even if their policy allows reps to give out such codes. In
that case, you'll have to get it unlocked by a store or buy a cable
and do it yourself.
