The T-Mo coverage map appears to show service in Monterrey but not much
beyond. Does anyone have experience in Carmel?

I have no personal experience there, but I have some old Cingular map
brochures that show coverage extends south from Monterey all the way to
the town of Big Sur, so that includes Carmel. Ever since T-Mobile came
to California, they've used Cingular's (formerly Pac Bell's) GSM1900
California network.

Also, websites of both companies show they sell service in Carmel's Zip
93921.
