The TMobile webpage just reduced the cost of the Motorola V600 to FREE
for new activations.  I guess we should be seeing the V620 or V635 soon,
and they are clearing out the older models...

Anybody have the "inside" scoop on whether they will be offering these
phones???

Is the V600 a decent phone?  How is the radio sensitivity in marginal areas?
Does it have a plug for an external antenna?

Thanks,
Mike Schumann

Yes on all three. That being said I switched to a v3 last November
shortly after they were released. The v3 has a better and slightly
bigger screen and I just love the form factor.  However, for most people
the difference between 'free' and $400 dollars makes the v600 a clear
winner - at least till the v3 drops way down in price.

I tried getting a V600 today from customer care and local T-Mobile stores.
Everyone was sold out.  They told me it would be replaced with the V330 in
the next couple of weeks.

Now that IS interesting since the price on their webpage WAS $99 up till
today, when they made it free...  I can't see how they will pass the
V330 as a replacement for the V600... the V600 has been upgraded (by
Motorola) to the V620 and the V635.. neither of which is carried by TMobile.

Did you try and order it via their webpage?  That is where the FREE
listing is...

PS  I know that Amazon has had it for free for at least a few weeks, but
I prefer to deal directly with TMobile if I can...

Nothing wrong in dealing with Amazon.com. However, they only sell phones to
new sign-ups.

Anyone know if T-Mo will also give the v-600 for "free" to continuing
customers (contract expired), in exchange for contract renewal?

I haven't contacted them yet... I am in the same situation as you
describe, but it now seems like they have "run out" of them... We should
be able to get it for free based on the "upgrade" policies if you have a
$39.95 or more plan... a new phone every 12 months...

Please keep me posted on anything you find out

SFB

PS  I agree with your comment on Amazon.. I signed up originally through
them...

Did you speak to them about it? Did they say you could get one at that
price, but they were out of them? Are more coming in?

I tried to upgrade to a V600, but the upgrade department hasn't had access
to that model for a month or so.  It looks like the only way to get one for
free is as a new customer on the internet.

I was also told that the V330 is basically the same functionality (including
Quad band) as the V600 in a V300 form factor.

Letstalk.com has it for 99.99 or make 50 bucks after rebate.
